Live happy, take chances, dance in the rain, sing out loud, cry and laugh. Feel. Love. Life is short.

So you're on campus, you've done your registration, you've got your room, you've moved in and lazily unpacked. Your annoying roommates are in too. You've reconnected with your old friends. Anytime you're on vacation, you're eager to come back to school (probably applies to my fellow Ghanaian students ONLY) but now you're in school, you've run out of unproductive/fun things to do.

Don't Worry, Captain Carter is here to the rescue - GO UNI! THE FREEDOM IS YOURS!

So here is a list of unproductive/fun stuff to do on campus:

1. Do Sports: Yea, doing a sport is unproductive for now but will help you live longer later. Take up a sporting activity like swimming, martial arts, football. In my first year I took tae kwan do lessons. I never graduated from the white belt but it kept my afternoons busy. It was fun having a lady kick me in the balls cos i leave my groin unprotected when I fought with them. Taking swimming is also fun; I always stayed under the water just to look at the boobs of the girls. Taking sports will help keep your afternoons busy and its also a nice way to meet new people with similar interests.

2. Go drinking: Go out with friend(s) to a bar not far away from campus. Have some alcohol and enjoy fun times reminiscing. Also, campus bars provide an opportunity to hook up especially for girls. There would be a lot of guys willing to hit on you at a bar. go with your girlfriends and flirt a bit. Its gonna be one of the chances you won't have again once you out of campus.

3. Go out on dates: Be open minded. Give yourself and other people a chance to know yourselves. Dates on campus can be quite fun and extraordinary if you avoid the cliched going to a restaurant. Go out to the campus park/gardens or grab a few drinks and chill out with some nice music in your room or balcony  You could also go see a drama or visit some karaoke bars. One time, I went on a double date at an overhead railway track. It was unused and seeing cars speed under us was thrilling. Having dates on campus can help make your nights fun/unproductive. Just don't run out of ideas.

4.  Travel and Explore your Country: On the weekends, you can travel to see some nice places in your country. Go with friends to the beach, tourist sites or you could go and hang out in bars in different regions. Renting a guest house or a motel is really affordable especially if you're in a group. Don't forget your ID card as most tourist sites have really cheap packages for students. Doing this will give you amazing experiences and stories to tell and your weekends will be helluva fun and exploratory. My favourite hang out sites outside of campus is Ada Foah, Cape Coast and Akosombo to stay right by the lake.

5. Write a blog: Start a blog. I sit here in front of my computer writing something for you to read. It kills time, and its becomes fun once you start living an interesting life worthy to blog about.

The list goes on. I love college. I really love it. I mean where else would your parents give you hundreds of cedis every month for you to go party and be unproductive.

Even if you're having a miserable day or week or month, just get up, put a smile on, find a freind... and go laugh, dance, drink, be happy. This life ain't for forever.
